Nairobi governor Johnson Arthur Sakaja is today celebrating his 38th birthday.
For his birthday, the county governor is planting 3,800 seedlings in the city. He planted a few seedlings at Central Park which has been closed for 15 months for renovations.
The exercise will also take place in various wards within the county with the assistance of the National Youth Service.
This is in a bid to restore Nairobi’s green status.
At least 11,000 youths in Nairobi will be employed to participate in the tree-planting programme.
On his social media platforms, he shared photos from the exercise thanking his deputy for joining him.
“Deeply grateful to my Deputy Njoroge Muchiri our CECMs, CCOs, the entire city hall staff, the Nairobi Serena Hotel team, our partners, and youth CBOs in all Sub Counties for joining me in planting trees throughout the city today. For my 38th we are planting 3,800 trees today,” he wrote.
In yet another photo, he shared how elated he was after Busia Boy he offered to educate visited him on Sakaja’s birthday.
“Carlos Barasa the brave young boy who came up to me in Busia about his high school came by this morning to wish me a happy birthday as he heads out to High School. Thanks, Carlos and all the best as you go forward and conquer.”
