Rally Driver Maxine Wahome will today take a plea for the murder of her late boyfriend Asad Khan. The DPP last week approved murder charges against Wahome who was out on bail awaiting investigations into the death of her boyfriend.

Khan allegedly died as a result of injuries he sustained during a domestic squabble with Maxine at their house in Kileleshwa.

She was initially being investigated for grievous harm before the charges were enhanced to murder after Khan died while receiving treatment at the hospital.

Wahome has since maintained her innocence telling the court when she was first arraigned that she was a victim.

On Tuesday, her lawyer Phillip Murgor said Wahome was innocent. Speaking on behalf of the family, Murgor said Wahome who is a young intelligent girl was not guilty.

Addressing the media at Kilimani Police Station where she is being detained, Murgor said he does not know why she was charged with murder.

Murgor said he has gone through all the evidence and facts and he does not know why the murder charge was preferred against his client.

Murgor also confirmed that the mental exam conducted on her showed she was fit to stand trial.
